June Recap

Who knew that you could easily and quickly design anything you wanted and have it printed on fabric. Laura brought some samples of various prints she has done on several different types of fabric and it was amazing how wonderful the fabrics felt.

I had ordered something from Spoonflower about 5 yrs ago and it was a little stiff and felt as though the ink was sitting on the fabric. With today's technology so advanced that even on a chiffon, the feel of this soft light fabric was not lost.

You can find links to the various resources on the Resource Page above.

So many beautiful TOM blocks are being turned in. Keep up the good work! For July our blocks are:

Slice and Insert

and Lattice

The tutorials are posted on the TOM Tab.

The trip to the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival was wonderful. Many of our members attended to take classes and shop and to see the stunning quilts. There were quilts of all types from boldly modern to beautifully traditional and a mix of both. These are just a few pictures I took of some of the more than 500 quilts displayed.

A special thank you to Sheila Green for organizing hotel reservations, suggested eating places and local fabric shops to visit. It takes a lot of work organizing the rooms and rides for 10 people.

June Sew Day Recap

Today we worked on some mug organizers to use on the mugs Tom gave us and donated them to the museum along with a few pin cushions.

Kristi made a set of pillow cases, on the masculine side, so they will make a great set for the parents.

Many of the members were working on their Big Blue blocks. Some really inventive and beautiful interpretations. I am only showing a small snippet of some that were there being worked on today. You will have to attend the meeting at the end of the month to see them in person.

Linda G worked on this whimsical cat throw for herself.
