Finding Your Color Zone
For this meeting, we’ll go over color self discovery with this great video: Finding Your Colour Zone!
Please take a look at this video.
This 3rd part of the series goes over color theory.
The short version of this guide will instruct the following:
Find your color in the wedge.
Find your range – up, down, left, right – saturated, desaturated, low hue, high hue
Then take your colors and find the hue next to your color, make your colors warmer or cooler and see if you still like them.
Use this to discover your natural colors and your harmonious colors.
We'll have you post to Facebook or Instagram.
Here’s an example from Jennifer MiKitrick:
Paint Chip Challenge 2020
Welcome to the Paint Chip Challenge! The challenge is to make a quilt with these three colors alone. No neutrals (blacks, grays, The challenge is to make a quilt with these three colors in one of the six groups. No neutrals (blacks, grays, whites, beiges, tans). This will push us out of our comfort zone a bit.
How to do it:
1. We have 3 paint chips grouped and assigned numbers 1-6.
2. Pick one of these groups of 3 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6). We were going to assign them, but decided that we should have people pick to ensure you had the colors at home.
3. Match these colors with your stash the best you can. Variations in hue are fine.
4. Make a quilt that is a minimum of 24 inches square in or a maximum of lap-sized (you determine whose lap).
5. Use any modern technique.
6. Show your finished quilt by June, 2020
