Sew Day November 14th
(formerly known as Afternoon at the Improv) .....
for Nov 14th we can make a day of it!!!
Everyone is welcome to join us for a Sew Day at the IQSCM. Start time has moved up to 10. Please do not come earlier as the doors will just be opened at 10. You are free to bring your lunch (they have a kitchen area to store it in and eat in) if you like. (there are also places to eat near by) admission is free if you are joining us to sew.
-Bring all your sewing supplies and machine.
-We have a few extension cords and an iron, board and mat but feel free to bring your own.
-Bring any project you want to work on
-Bring anything you would like to show and share (gift ideas or otherwise)
If you would like to make a name tag/business card holder you will need to bring: a piece of the LMQG logo fabric (will have some available), fabric pens to write your name on or if you would like to embroider it on that is good too; scraps plus small batting approx 9"x6"; lining fabric approx 11"x 6"; Med to heavy fusible interfacing for flap approx. 6" x 6"; (small tab of hook and loop tape for closure if making it a card holder);med to large lobster claw clasp or lanyard finding large enough to fit over a fabric loop. Some clasps will be available along with some larger jump rings used to attach clasp to fabric and some interfacing and batting bits. Helpful to have a walking foot or edge foot.
*if you did not pick up a piece of the logo fabric at the last meeting some will be available if you are a paid member for next year.
I made my own scrappy lanyard cord but if you would like a tutorial, this one is very close by Just cut the scrap bring your own instruction sheet
Other gift ideas from the meeting have tutorials that you can look at and print/download and bring to work on at the Sew Day. Make sure you look at supplies needed for each.

and there were more I don't have links too. Come out and sew with us and maybe you will find ideas to make for your holiday gifts. Bring your things to share.

We hope to see you there!
Our Holiday Party will be Dec. 11th at The Yellow Barne. Address/map in Welcome box on blog page. We will be meeting from 6-8. Bring a treat to share, cider and cocoa will be available. Bring a 'wrapped' ugly fat quarter and hope you don't get an even uglier one back! More on this in next post.
Bernina Sewing Studio Gallery show:
We will be collecting quilts (Dec 11th at the party) for a gallery quilt show at the Bernina Gallery for Jan 8th- Feb 24th. We are asking for your 'most modern' quilt to be in the gallery. A label must be attached and we would like a bit about the 'modern' elements in your quilt for the viewers label on front that we will need to make. We are asking for one from each member but might need more to fill the gallery.
The 2016 new board members will be meeting Sunday Nov 15th to discuss the new year. If you have any questions or concerns you can contact us at info.lincolnmqg@gmail.com
Sew day sound like an absolute delight for those who are creative. It's an excellent way to make your own bits and pieces, even presents and I love the idea of sitting with others to do this activity, getting help on the tricky stuff! I used to knit so there's a creative urge within me somewhere and you've inspired me.
