March 2021 Meeting Recap

 

We had a fantastic meeting this Tuesday and were so thrilled to host Carole Lyles Shaw! We learned so much about her. 

Fun facts about Carole Lyles Shaw: Author, Quilter and Teacher

• She was inspired by the AfriCobra Movement and artists such as Annie Albers, Bauhaus, and Radha Donnell
• Her early work included improv curves and geometric abstractions
• She was co-founder of the Sarasota Modern Quilt Guild in Florida 
• Her Quilts of Valor are made modern and she has published on her designs
• Her self-published books include Madly Modern Quilts and Patriotic Modern Quilts: Celebrating Tradition in a Contemporary Way available on Amazon.
• Her method is to start with shape or a focus fabric, use play and experimentation, and uses EQ8 for design.
