Big Blue Challenge

Inspired by “Big Blue”: a Modern LQMG project

Big Blue is the first quilt that Ardis James made.  It is made up of several traditional blocks using blue and white fabrics.  LMQG would like to challenge our members to remake the traditional block into their modern interpretation of it.  We will submit the finished pieces to the IQSCM for a possible exhibition in the future. Depending on the number of pieces  turned in we may or may not have to jury them to fit a space for display. Possible dates for exhibition could be 2020-21.
Read more about Big Blue HERE

Guidelines:
-Members must randomly draw one of the chosen blocks out of bag (held by Kristie)
-Finished pieces must be 24” square. Please be as close to 24” to look the best on display
-3 layers= top, batting, backing
-binding or facing
-Blue and White fabrics: solids, tone on tone, blue and white prints etc...but No other color. Any shade, light, dark etc
-incorporate “Modern” design element(s) into your piece
-no embellishments
-a label must be sewn on to the back with name of block, maker
-a 4” sleeve must be attached to the back
-All pieces must be turned in at the June meeting and be ready to be photographed for possible submission

If you take a block to make please do so.  If for some reason you can’t finish in time let us know.  There are only a few others interpreting the same block you are and we would like to show all the interpretations for the same block together.

Any questions can be asked at sew day, meetings, or by email info.lincolnmqg@gmail.com or kristiejarchow@gmail.com

We hope you enjoy working on this project.
