QuiltCon 2019 Charity Quilt Challenge

QuiltCon 2019 Charity Quilt Challenge!!!

Theme: Small Piecing

Volunteers from the Lincoln MQG met following the June meeting.  Pictured below is the team brainstorming the 2019 theme of "small piecing" and the MQG's selected color palette.

Updates to come at the July meeting!

The 2019 design theme is small piecing. You have probably noticed some modern quilters using small piecing in recent years. While it can be hard to define, let’s say that small piecing would incorporate fabric pieces that are smaller than 1” in either width or length. So you might picture long, skinny strips, or little tiny squares, for example. The small piecing can be improvisationally pieced, traditionally pieced or foundation pieced. It’s up to you. Remember, the quilt doesn’t need to be exclusively small piecing. Small piecing must be an integral part of the design but you can incorporate other modern design elements, such as negative space, to make the challenge more approachable.

July Sew Day Mini Swap Recap

What a day!! Great turn out, stunning quilts, wonderful people and loads of fun. Special thanks to Kris Jarchow for being the primary organiser of what, I think, was a very successful event.

Thanks also to all LMQG and OMQG members for their assistance and participation.

We all met up at the the Ashland Public Library.

We had a full house and lots of meeting and greeting.

It was a very nice room with an attached kitchen full of snacks and everything an ice cream sunday could hold.

Lots of prizes supplied by both LMQG and OMQG.

Projects both large and small, machine made and hand made were being worked on. The diversity of techniques, color and style was quite diverse.

Sheila Green was one of the prize recipients. A lovely pencil bag made by Jennifer Van Dyke and a fat quarter.

Here is a collage of all the mini's that were
made. There were a total of 28 done. So much talent.

Unfortunately some of our swappers were unable to attend, but did send in their minis with friends so some faces are missing and were replaced by holding hands or stand ins. These are in no particular order.
