June Meeting 2021

16 months! That's how long since our in person meeting at the IQM was stalled due to COVID. And now like Gloria Gaynor, we're back!

We've been so fortunate to be able to share in each other's company! As per Lincoln guidelines and out of an abundance of caution for members that could be at risk, we are asking that non-vaccinated people please kindly wear a mask.

We have an exciting program for you this month! Due to vacation conflicts, we are postponing our Bias Technique until July.

Raffle- it's back!

Hear about the LMQG Retreat - Friday – Sunday, October 22-24, 2021, At the renovated Carole Joy Holling Camp center, Hazel Dillon Lodge. $150 per person (LMQG members) by Aug 1st. $75 for individual day rate. $160 after Aug 1st and will be then open to non LMQG members. See our sign up sheet. Two meals per day plus snacks.

Bring your Cindy Grisdela Challenge Quilts - They will be displayed at Threads Across Nebraska, October 8-9, 2021. All quilts should be labeled.

Get your COVID Quilts Ready - The IQM is interested in collecting COVID quilts for their permanent collection

Announcements

· Sew Days: Every other month at IQM. Check the blog for details.

· Guild meetings:

Back in person! 5:30 p.m. on the last Tuesday of the month at the International Quilt Museum.
June 29 Guild Meeting: Bias Part 2 Technique Demonstration, Members are encouraged to bring their TOM blocks; there will be a special raffle.

· Threads Across Nebraska:

When: Nebraska State Quilt Guild annual show will be October 7 and 8 in Kearney.
LMQG has been given permission to display up to 14 of our Cindy Grisdela challenge quilts. Only one per quilter can be submitted. Please bring your quilts to the June meeting.
TOM 2019 Quilt will be auctioned as an LMQG fundraiser
Volunteers Needed: we need people to monitor the fundraiser. Please contact board members for further details.

· LMQG Retreat: Mary asked for volunteers. Sara Kenny suggested the newly renovated Joy Holling center. Sara volunteered to assist with the retreat.

· Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival: June 17-19, in Olathe, Kansas at the Overland Park Convention Center. Information at https://kcrqf.com/festival-info/

de First Friday:

Lincoln Covid Sewists at IQM: Sheila Green will share the giant mask quilt June 4th at 5:30 PM. If you can't make it then, a 2nd quilt will be presented to the Nebraska History Museum June 5th at 12:00 PM (noon).
