March 2024 Meeting Recap

Our March meeting featured a program by Jan Sears who talked about her experiences in quilt judging. A retired certified quilt judge and appraiser, Jan explained how she became certified, how quilts are judged in quilt shows, and how quilts are appraised for sale, donation or insurance purposes.

A few of the resources she mentioned were:

Jan demonstrated how judges will review the quilts that are submitted.

Then we were able to view some of Jan's quilts.

Members voted that the gray QuiltCon Community submission will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.

Members also voted that this quilt will be donated to the Carol Joy Holling center. We would like to invite representatives to a later meeting so they can both be presented.

Kara Sheil showed two mini quilts that were remade from the Make a Mini, Make a Friend swap over the past two years. She liked the originals she sent and wanted to keep a version for herself.

This mini that was remade/finished this year will be submitted to the Great Wisconsin Quilt Show Modern Mini challenge.

Jean Cotton showed her finished Ohio Star Quilt.

Nancy Goff showed us her St. Patrick's Day themed table runner.
