Our Zoom meetings continue to be well attended with over 24 members this month!
IQM - LMQG
LMQG Members will help quilt and face panels of clothing and parcels in homage to migrants who died passing through Mexico to the United States through the Sonoran desert. This traveling exhibition will be composed of three panels, 16 feet wide each, commemorating the 3,200 deaths since 1994. Toe tags carrying the names of the deceased will be affixed to the panels.
Walk 2.0 Book Report
Mary Dittenber gave a wonderful review of Jacquie Gering's new book, Walk 2.0. This book describes in detail how to intricately quilt with your walking foot. She displayed samples. The books are available at local stores and two will soon be available at the Lincoln City Libraries.
Pro-tip: your walking foot can wear out. See if you can get it serviced. If not, it may need to be replaced.
Inspiration vs Copying
Lora Yardley discussed how to differentiate between copying and using a piece for inspiration, when it is appropriate to copy, and some of the details of copyright.
Big Blue Spinoff
LMQG did a fantastic job of spring-boarding from Ardis James' Big Blue Quilt. Elisa Salas showed the original Blocks and how our members used creative reinterpretation to make the quilts modern. Members shared their inspiration (and perspiration) for their quilts and their processes.
