Hello Quilty Friends! We hope you will join us for Sew Day! We're looking forward to a fun day of sewing and social time with you. 

Bring your works in progress and if you have a finished project, bring that for show and tell. 

If you are interested in sewing pillowcases for Habitat for Humanity, there will be a few kits available on Saturday. Also, you can bring fabrics you would like to donate from your stash! Remember that we are in need of "boy" fabrics. 

Pillowcases are quick and easy to make. You will need approximately this much fabric to make one pillowcase: 

body=27" x 42"
cuff = 9" x 42"
piping = 2 " x 42"

March Meeting Highlights

From the March 28th Meeting
An Evening with Peg Pennell: How to enter quilt contests and what quilt judges look for when evaluating your quilt. 

A huge thank you to Peg for all the great information about entering quilts in contests and challenges! Some things judges look for when evaluating quilts are:

• Design (Visual Impact)
• Technique (Does the piece lay flat, edges hang correctly, are the corners square, is the quilting appropriate, are the quilting stitches even, is the binding well attached and filled and are the mitered corners sewn shut)

Here are some of Peg's tips for entering contests and challenges:

• Read the Rules
• Enter in the correct category
• Take quality photos of your quilt
• Label your piece with the name, size and contact information
• Enter SOMETHING and share it with people! 
• Learn from the judges comments to improve your workmanship. Realize that those comments and ratings are one judges opinion on that day.

• Quilt what you love!

March Meeting Reminder

Have you ever wanted to enter a quilt in a show or contest but didn't know where to start? Join us on Tuesday for An Evening With Peg Pennell.  She will be talking about how to enter a quilt contest and will give us tips on what judges look for when evaluating your quilt.  

Bring your best modern quilts for Show & Tell, we love to see what everyone is making. Remember to keep it brief though, we always have lots of people who want to share and we don't want our meeting to run past 7:00 pm!
