Join us for an evening with Leah Sorensen-Hayes!

With an almost infinite range of color choices available, how do you choose? Leah will share how she refines her color palette to stay true to her concept and aesthetic.

Leah received her BFA in ceramics and drawing from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1993. Soon after, she traded clay for cotton and learned how to quilt. When Michael James joined the faculty of UNL’s textile department, she decided to go back to school and received her MA in textile design in 2001. She currently divided her time between UNL’s Est Campus working as Michael James’s studio assistant and her home studio where she quilts, designs digital repeat patterns, and dyes fabrics.

Road Trip to the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival

Thirty members from our Lincoln Modern Quilt Guild traveled to the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival on June 14th and 15th. There were some fun stops on the way, one being IKEA on Wednesday.

Thursday was the quilt show where we enjoyed viewing lots of quilts and shopping the vendors. We came home with lots of goodies. Congratulations to Colette who won the huge prize basket!

June Sew Day Highlights

Ten members attended the Sew Day on Saturday, June 3rd at the IQSCM.

A few members took in the exhibit and lecture "Regarding Nebraska" by Elizabeth Ingraham. 

We had an enjoyable time working on personal projects and pillowcases for Habitat for Humanity.

Well, some of us Un-Sewed! Poor Linda had to take out quilting that had tension problems on the back. She said it was frustrating because the quilting went from good to bad to good to bad...ripping is no fun but sometimes it has to be done!

Becky had our only Show & Tell with this wonderful family photo album quilt top.

The next Sew Day will be Saturday, August 12th, location TBA!
