Phyllis Higley will present "Words In Quilts: Giving New Meaning to Journal Quilts."
Phyllis will give a trunk show/lecture/demo of her exploration of incorporating words into quilts.
Phyllis says, "Whereas journal quilts are small quilts made to explore new techniques and story quilts use pictures to tell a story, I wanted to combine words and pictures to tell a more complete story or to enhance a design element. I've used quilting, applique, improv piecing letters, and handwriting on fabric. I will show examples of each. I'll also provide some tips for those who want to give it a try."
Please bring your heart blocks Tuesday night. We will be collecting them for the quilt we are donating to the Orlando MQG for the survivors and families of victims of the Orlando mass shooting. There is still time to sew a block or two before the meeting, you can find the information HERE. Thank you for taking the time to donate to this cause.
