"Oh Scrap" Challenge pieces due!

Exciting News...We are going to exhibit our "scrap" challenge pieces at the Burkholder Project in the Lincoln Haymarket from June  7-30th, 2019 including a small first Friday reception on June 7th from 5:30-8 p.m. in Studio 12 on the 2nd floor.
If you allow us to exhibit your piece, be ready to leave them at the May meeting. Please label your pieces with your name and the name of your piece. Number of pieces turned in and space available will determine pieces hung. We will attempt all but that may not work and so will let it be juried by studio room owner. We can't wait to see what you have come up with! Volunteers may be needed for first friday reception.
If you can not attend the meeting to drop them off and sign a disclaimer, please arrange to get them to a board member by contacting info.lincolnmqg@gmail.com

Art Element Space - Barbara Chestnut

Space, as one of the classic seven elements of art, refers to the distances or areas around, between, and within components of a piece. Space can be positive or negative, open or closed, shallow or deep, and two-dimensional or three-dimensional.

Do you EPP? -Our program for the evening is by Sarah Maseth. She will be talking about English Paper Piecing.  We will be doing a hands on project. Please bring either 8 - 3" squares of fabric or 7 - 2.5" pieces that would look nice together in a pincushion or applique. Washable glue stick or pen, hand needle, and coordinating or neutral thread. If you forget some will be provided. Also bring any of your EPP works to share (finished or not finished)

Discussion: QuiltCon 2020 Charity Quilt - The 2020 design theme is text.
Do we as a guild want to tackle this? A small committee? A design opportunity? Let's chat at the May meeting.

Quilts incorporating text have been popular in the modern quilt movement right from the start.
There are many alphabet patterns available or you could work improvisationally. There are no restrictions on technique.
Each quilt should include at least one word and it should be a central design element in the composition. Of course, you can use text fabrics too!
The palette is black, white and four (4) shades of grey.
