You will want to see the ”Old World Quilts” exhibit which features many
never before exhibited quilts, the oldest (1600-1800) in the museum’s
collection!
In addition to our popular demonstrations of techniques used in the quilts
in the galleries, there will be take home activities for the entire family and
handwork demonstrations. You can make a
felt needle case (inspired by Old World Quilts) or create a mini art textile (inspired by Dianna Harrison: Traces in Cloth). Cuddle Quilts is our featured community
outreach program. We will showcase a
large display of these quilts that are given away through local social service
organizations. Visit with some of the
makers in a workshop. Have your picture
taken with our "Photo Frame!”
Collection Care in Action will be featured in our Conservation Workroom
where guests can learn from volunteers and staff how the museum cares for
textiles.
What's new in the quilting industry? AccuQuilt, Aurifil & Handi Quilter, as
well as local shops: Bernina Sewing Center, Cosmic Cow, and Sew Creative, will
have all the latest machines and products for you to see.
Guests can tour the quilt exhibitions in the galleries:
Old World
Quilts,
Studio Champloo,
New Views:
Diana Harrison: Traces in Cloth, Fiber Works: Cyanotype, and Rumi O’Brien: Absolutely Japanese,
Absolutely American.
We hope that you will make plans to attend National Quilting Day 2020!
