Our September meeting will feature former member Diane Wilson sharing about the Kawandi technique, and teaching us how to make a small mug rug.
Since this is a hands-on project, the zoom experience will not be as enjoyable. Please try to join us in person.
What to bring:
- 7” square of backing fabric (for an unfinished edge), or a 9” square for folding around the edges. (You may want to turn &stitch your edges ahead of meeting to save time. See images below.)
- 15 (+ or -) charm sized or smaller scraps in coordinating colors. (Batiks are harder to stitch through.) does not have to only be quilting cottons.
- 7” square of thin batting.
- Pins, thimble, small scissors, a #8 embroidery needle (some will be available). #8 Perle Cotton (some will be available), 12 wt. Wonderfil Spaghetti, Shibori thread, or the equivalent.
LMQG has a stash of scraps (and possibly some backing squares and batting) that will be available and as mentioned above, some needles and thread will also be available.
First piece: backing turned to finish the edge, and all pieces with turned edges.
Second piece: raw outer edge and raw edges on all pieces.
