Wow, what a turn out! Bags everywhere and in every size and shape imaginable. 

It was show and tell heaven here seeing all the bags and patterns and fan favorites for sewing all these wonderful bags. There are bags for every quilter and more.  Favorite places to get patterns, interfacing and hardware was discussed.

We actually started the meeting by turning in our Go Geometric Challenge pieces.

~Jan Sears talked about working the Art Market coming up in October. If you would like to help contact the guild and they will get you in touch with Jan. Donations are also accepted for the Friends table. 

***We have a slate of Officers for the upcoming 2027 year.  A big thanks goes out to Sheila Green for getting the word out and finding members. We will vote on the board at the October (last) meeting.

~Our Last Sew day of the year is October 10 from 10:15 to 1pm. Please join us and share your gift making ideas for the Holidays. 

~Kris Jarchow showed 3 simple wallets to make to hold gift cards, your I.D., your nametag or carry as a wristlet. The PDF for the Wallets can be found on our Resources page HERE Please come to sew day...we have lobster clasps and white wallet snaps for you to make one of the wallets.

Our HOLIDAY Party is December 12 from 1:00 to 3 at IQM. We will have a sign up starting on Sew Day Oct 10 to get an idea of how many to plan for. More details to come.

LMQG September 29, 2026 Meeting - All about that "Bag"

 

Whether you carry a purse, a handbag, a pocketbook, a backpack, fanny pack or a clutch bag and you have used a pattern or your own design, please come to our September meeting and share. 

It's all about that "bag"! 

Share your tips and tricks for sewing your own bags, pouches, pencil cases, sewing caddy bag, shoe bag, make-up bags you name it.  If you have the pattern please share. If you got a freebie on-line or made your own design tell us about it. 

Are there straps, hardware and zips you prefer? Where do you get your supplies? What type of interfacing or filling do you prefer? Come tell us about it!

There will be lots of show and tell this night because the GO GEOMETRIC Challenge needs to be turned in. Get your artist statement and dimensions sent to the guild email address.  Don't forget to put a label on your quilt with your name ready to turn in at meeting.

We are gearing up for our last Sew day of the year on October 10th. Please bring your gift making ideas and share how-tos and show off your great gift ideas for this years season of giving. 

Also be thinking about saving the date for our Holiday party December 12. Sign up to come to party will be at the October sew day and the October meeting.  Mark your calendars.

Do you have ideas about programs and classes for next year? Why not join the board and help make these things happen. Voting on slate of officers will be in October but we have to have people. 

In the meantime, get your bags and challenge piece ready to share...

Marilyn will be present some of the many options in quilt edge finishes including bindings and facings for square/rectangular as well as curved or unusual quilt shapes. 

We are extending the date of our Go Geo Challenge to the Sept 29th meeting. Please make sure to label quilts and email the lincolnmodernquiltguild@gmail.com dimensions of your piece and a short Artist statement (like what modern element(s) you used etc)
