Sew Day Recap

The holidays are just around the corner so we asked our members to bring some quick and easy projects to share.

Kris brought this cute bag that has snaps on the sides to keep it neat, and when un-snapped opens to a nice large interior. It is called a DIY cosmetic case and the pattern can be found HERE

Julie brought a small thread catcher made from a single triangle than can be done in any size, even with quitled fabric to make larger ones sturdier. Tutorial HERE

Also little notepads to throw in your purse or sewing kit so you always have something to write on handy, or, when made with graph paper, something to do a quick sketch on. These were not my idea.

Several people worked on  cute fleece hats for charity

Nancy showed us these lovely maple leaf mug rugs using THIS pattern. She added an Aspen leaf and some snowflakes of her own design.

Some minimal challenge designs that didn't quite make the meeting by Elisa

And Julie

some stunning work by Jennifer

Sheila and Jenni showed projects created during the Yoshiko Jinzenji class with the Omaha MQG.

Sheila made a full size and a baby quilt for a person at the Crafting with Culture group

Kris brought an example of piecing squares on fusable interfacing that has a grind marked on it. All you do is lay the squares on, press and then fold along the grid lines, one at a time, both horizontally and then vertically for perfect matched corners. Very handy for a pixelated quilt.

Mary D is making a wonky cross quilt using shades of green and purple in various sizes
