February Sew Day - RECAP

Had a great time at the Eisley branch of the Lincoln Public Library. Lovely room, good lighting and lots of space. We had a nice turn out and some beautiful work being done.


Judy was hand quilting this low volume geese quilt.

New member Michelle has jumped in with both feet. Her fist quilt top done, she went right on to machine quilting both straight line and some free motion. Bonus of sew days is being able to take advantage of the pool of knowledge usually available in a relaxed setting making instruction and advice easy to give and take.

Phyllis finished a "bee" piece where the prompt was city lights. The other members of the bee had to make a cityscape piece that reflected a city lights scene. Phyllis then gathered all the blocks or pieces together that resulted in this glowing city lights scene.

Julie put the last row onto this wandering path quilt made up of half square triangles in blues and green

Brroke was working on a quilt that is made up of several different blocks with pieces as small as 1-1/2". According to mom Colleen, she has come a long way in her piecing skills in the past year.

Speaking of mom Colleen, she is working on a lone star type quilt made up of improv pieced points.

Kristi, of course, had several items to show us. The first piece was made in response to a prompt of "red, white and blue". She came up with Path Interrupted using a very deep navy as the background

Next is a beautiful piece made in response to the prompt, bigger than a bread box. Since the prompt is a bit vague except for a reference to size, Kristi dug deep and tried some new techniques on this piece. She worked up a freezer paper pattern and even inserted a pieced circle.

Then there is the self portrait in fabric.
